Is Disney World Still Offering Cup Lids and Straws? Here’s What We Know.

Picture this: You’re in Disney’s Animal Kingdom with your family. It’s lunchtime, and your order from Satu’li Canteen is ready for pickup. Stay with us for a moment.

In this hypothetical scenario, your order is pretty big (we’re talking three entrees and three drinks), and all that food is precariously balanced on a tray. Now, you have the task of navigating all the way to a booth in the far corner of the restaurant without spilling that tray full of food. The hardest part? Dealing with those cups that are filled to the brim with drinks! We’ve all been there, right? It’s not easy!

As you may have noticed at some point during a recent vacation, many quick-service locations in Disney World offer cups without lids in an effort to reduce plastic waste.

In our experience, some locations still hand out paper or biodegradable straws, while other spots just give guests a cup. This can vary based on the day, location, and even the Cast Member serving you your drink.

Currently, there doesn’t seem to be a consistent rule on straw and lid availability across Disney World. Some quick-service restaurants had cup lids available upon request, while others seemed to have a blanket rule about lids and straws.

For example, at Sleepy Hollow in Magic Kingdom, a Cast Member informed us that they do not offer lids anymore, but straws are still available. Meanwhile, Friar’s Nook did not have lids or straws at the condiment station. Over at Cosmic Ray’s, we were not given a lid with our water cup, but we were able to get a straw upon request.

During our investigation, the quick-service restaurants around Magic Kingdom seemed to have varying rules and availability. In Fantasyland, Cheshire Cafe and Pinocchio Village Haus did not offer lids or straws, while Gaston’s Tavern provides straws but no lids.

The majority of the Magic Kingdom restaurants we visited had straws but no cup lids, including (but not limited to):

Over in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, BaseLine Tap House, PizzeRizzo, Kat Saka’s Kettle, and Ronto Roasters all ditched the cup lids but still have straws. PizzeRizzo had lids available on request. In some cases, you may be able to use a coffee lid on your cup, too.

Keep in mind that Disney does not use plastic straws but instead offers paper and sugarcane straws to cut down on single-use plastic usage! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
